Why we use Hemp

Considered an environmental super fibre, Hemp is one of the most durable and economically viable all-natural threads.

Our hemp is OEKO-TEX 100 certified - ensuring that no chemicals harmful to humans have been used at any stage of the production.

Here are just a few of the reasons we back hemp as the way of the future -

Hemp is a natural fibre which requires very limited, and often no application of pesticides and fertilisers in cultivation.
Its production uses approximately 50% less water than cotton.
Hemp is regenerative, requires less land than cotton to grow and yields 4-5 times more material per acre than Flax (linen).
Hemp returns nutrients to the soil, whereas Flax depletes it.
Hemp has some of the longest natural fibres in the world making it stronger and more durable than alternatives, and it is naturally resistant to mould and mildew.
Hemp absorbs four times as much CO2 as trees do, effectively helping to fight global warming by cleaning the atmosphere.
Hemp has many positive health & wellness benefits - antibacterial, hypoallergenic, breathable & moisture wicking - so cool in summer and a natural insulator in winter. The perfect fibre for all season bedding.

Corozo Nut Buttons

The corozo nut is a sustainable plastic-free alternative to buttons. It comes from the tagua tree and is also known as Vegetal Ivory, as it has a unique grain pattern, delivers scratch-free buttons and is extremely durable.

It's naturally harvested - Corozo can only be collected after it has fallen from the tree. Otherwise it isn't strong enough for button production.
It's a renewable resource - no trees need to be cut down. And once mature, a Tagua tree can produce up to 25 kilograms of nuts, for over a hundred years.
It's durable - the tightly wound organic fibres make for outstanding scratch resistance and high durability.
It's natural - corozo is a completely biodegradable product and a great alternative to plastic.

100% Recycled Labels

All our labels are made form 100% recycled polyester. Given this sometimes the colour may fade or change in the dying process.

Packaging

All our packaging materials use either 100% or some part recycled materials. We try to keep our packaging to a minimum to reduce waste.
